Esta Noche We Ride!: Doodoo Brown

I don't really think of myself as a real director, just like none of my friends are real actors. We get together to watch old movies and pick out the parts that tickle us. Each person comes up with their own character, usually based on what costumes we have available, and I "script" a way to bring the characters together, then have the monsters kill 'em off one by one. If a character survives, that usually means they came up with the most entertaining character or costume (like Jon Dilling shaving his head and painting himself silver to be a robot in Project: Tiki Puka Puka). The monsters are made of sliced up (electric carving knife) furniture foam held together by 3M spray-77, covered with paint or fabric. I used the cups from a coconut bra for the eyes of the Mountain of Terror cone monster and street hockey balls for the eyes of the Esta Monster.

Production takes place on weekends, usually somewhere within driving distance of Atlanta where we can rent a house and run around with a video camera without scarring any locals. Cast and crew are put on a sctrict diet of beer, cheese and BBQ during filming.

I see the Monster Trilogy as a home movie with professional post production. I am a professional editor and I created these movies to give myself something to edit. I see production is a necessary evil to get to post production, where all the real fun is. I borrow the talents of my co-workers for titles, original music and audio sweetening. Music is an integral part of elevating these movies from being tediously boring. Even if nothings happening on screen except a bunch of people in ridiculous costumes walking around, at lease there's good music to listen to.
